The Internet of Things (IoT) is booming with predictions that the 4.9 billion connected devices in use next year will jump to a massive 25 billion by 2020.
A number of tech heavyweights including Intel, Samsung, and Broadcom have joined forces as part of a new nonprofit group called the Open Interconnect Consortium, or OIC, in a bid to develop standards and certification for devices involved in the Internet of Things.
Sydney will be the new home of a huge cable landing station, with New Zealand-based submarine cable company Hawaiki Cable choosing the Sydney Equinix SY3 data centre as its Australian landing station for the 14,000 kilometre cable system.
