Communications Alliance chairman John Stanton says the fact that the latest report from the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security on the encryption law contains more than 100 pages about issues and problems that stakeholders have identified with the legislation was troubling.
The telecommunications industry lobby group, Communications Alliance, has told the Australian Communications and Media Authority it wants stronger, enforceable protections for Australia’s telecommunications consumers.
If the technology industry in Australia is serious about the concerns it has expressed over the encryption law that was passed in December last year, then it should come together and make repeal of the law an election issue.
