YUM: 10,000 free ice cream giveaway via smartphone at MCG

A giveaway of 10,000 ice creams at the MCG is on offer from 20 December 2014 thanks to Acquire Learning, Melbourne Stars and retail technology specialist DC4G.

Acquire Learning, the BigBash League Cricket Team ‘Melbourne Stars’ and Australian retail technology and digital marketing specialist DC4G have teamed up with Australian retail technology specialist DC4G to give away 10,000 free ice creams at the MCG to Smartphone carrying fans.

Cricket fans will have an opportunity to grab a free ice cream mobile coupon at all 5 of the Stars games at the MCG this summer starting from 20 December 2014.

Acquire Learning will use technology developed by DC4G to send a free Ice Cream direct to fans phones.

The program is being supported by Epicure, a division of ASX listed Spotless Group Holdings, who will manage the in ground redemption of coupons at designated MCG concession stands.

George Kaloudis, CEO of DC4G said: “This is by far the sweetest mobile coupon giveaway we have ever being involved in. We are extremely excited to be working with Acquire Learning and the Stars on such a brilliant way to engage smartphone wielding cricket fans.”

Coupons can be stored directly into Apple’s Passbook app or the Android PassWallet, or saved as a bookmark on other platforms.

Included is integration with the MCG’s iBeacon technology, deployed earlier this year, to alert users of nearby redemption stands and messaging.

Kim Vernon, Acquire Learning’s Global Chief Marketing Officer said: “As a sponsor of the Melbourne Stars, smartphone technology represents a great opportunity for us to engage with fans and enhance their game day experience as well as spark some conversations about how they can access new career opportunities.”

Eranna Weisenberger from the Melbourne Stars said: “We hope the Acquire Learning free ice cream giveaway will satisfy our fans sweet tooth. Registered fans and members will receive a link via email to access their mobile coupon. Fans will also be able to access the link via our Facebook and Twitter feeds so everyone has a chance and grabbing a free ice cream!”
