Netflix, which started life as a DVD rental outfit, makes an increasing number of movies available to watch online.
The films can be streamed to a computer, an Xbox 360, or -- with a special disc -- a Sony PS3.
Last September, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said the company planned to be available on all the game consoles, and in January the company confirmed its plans for the Wii.
As on the PS3 (but not the Xbox 360), the Wii will require a special disc to access Netflix. Today, Wii owners who previously reserved their disc -- such as this writer -- got an e-mail saying the discs were on their way and could arrive as soon as tomorrow.
To use the service, Wii owners will also need a broadband Internet connection. Unlike the Xbox 360 and the PS3, the Wii isn't known for online gaming, so many Wii owners may be breaking out the manuals to learn how to get their consoles connected.
