If you’re of a certain age, you’ll remember playing the first graphical adventures of the time, including classics like Leisure Suit Larry, but also titles like King’s Quest - with both of these examples from Sierra.
Today, Sierra part of the Activision stable of games, and has Geometry Wars 3 in its collection, with King’s Quest coming in 2015.
Sierra’s blurb on its site says it has a ‘focus on indie studios and innovative, graphically unique games that include new IP and reimaginings of beloved Sierra classics.’
So, now onto what it rightly says is the ‘long-awaited debut gameplay trailer for its upcoming game, King’s Quest’. It is the ‘return of a franchise that helped define the adventure genre when it first came to life 30 years ago.’
The trailer was first premiered at The Game Awards 2014, where we’re told that ‘King’s Quest series creator Roberta Williams received high honours alongside her husband and fellow Sierra co-founder, Ken Williams, in a ceremony that looked back on the long legacy of King’s Quest and Sierra. The duo received the Industry Icon Award to celebrate their contributions to video game culture and creativity.’
King’s Quest is expected to begin its tale in spring 2015 (fall 2015 in the US) and is scheduled for release on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS4 and Windows PCs.
The trailer is below.
Here is a separate video: the YouTube stream of the entire Games Award 2014’ ceremony, which includes trailers of all the games listed and which clocks in at 3 hours and 22 minutes.
The awards ceremony also includes trailers for 'The Legend of Zelda for Wii-U and Metal Gear Online', among others, and has 'appearances by Kiefer Sutherland and Trey Parker, plus performances by Imagine Dragons, Lindsey Stirling, 65 Days of Static, Jamie N. Commons and more.'
