VIDEO: PSN, Xbox Live, Kim Dotcom and the hackers on ‘Drama Alert’ interview Featured

Web channel ‘Drama Alert’ has posted an 18 minute video featuring a live interview with members of Lizard Squad, Finest Squad, Anonymous and Kim Dotcom discussing the hack attacks that took down PSN and Xbox Live, which are now both back online.

If you’ve been affected by the Xbox Live and PSN gaming network hack attacks that took both gaming networks offline thanks to DDoS attacks, you might be interested in hearing from the main players in the hacking game - the Drama Alert interview is embedded in full at the end of this article, just below.

We covered the initial hack here in an article entitled ‘PSN and Xbox Live up and down thanks to Lizard Squad’.

We then covered Kim Dotcom’s move to provide lifetime vouchers at Dotcom’s MEGA service to members of Lizard Squad, worth approximately a whopping US $300,000, at this follow-up article

Then we wrote an article entitled ‘PSN and Xbox Live appear to be back up’ when the attacks stopped, but the networks were still down due to zillions of Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3, PS4 consoles all trying to re-connect to their respective networks at the same time, which made the consoles themselves emulate a DDoS attack without meaning to.

As can be seen at the Ask Playstation Twitter page and at the Xbox Live status page, both networks now appear to be fully back online for players.

It was over at Kim Dotcom’s Twitter page that I noticed he had posted an interview, embedded below, of the #DramaAlert show, which features members of Lizard Squad, Finest Squad, Anonymous and Kim Dotcom himself, all discussing the hack.

While the fight seems to be continuing between the various hacking groups, likely ‘for the lulz’, and with Finest Squad criticising Lizard Squad for seeking donations from kids to donate to Lizard Squad to stop the hacks, and Finest Squad hassling Anonymous for suggesting Finest Squad was part of Lizard Squad, the hacks finally seem to be over.

And all it appears to be thanks to happy Internet rogue and self-titled ‘Internet Freedom Fighter’, Kim Dotcom.

The interview is in full embedded below.

Now’s the Time for 400G Migration

The optical fibre community is anxiously awaiting the benefits that 400G capacity per wavelength will bring to existing and future fibre optic networks.

Nearly every business wants to leverage the latest in digital offerings to remain competitive in their respective markets and to provide support for fast and ever-increasing demands for data capacity. 400G is the answer.

Initial challenges are associated with supporting such project and upgrades to fulfil the promise of higher-capacity transport.

The foundation of optical networking infrastructure includes coherent optical transceivers and digital signal processing (DSP), mux/demux, ROADM, and optical amplifiers, all of which must be able to support 400G capacity.

With today’s proprietary power-hungry and high cost transceivers and DSP, how is migration to 400G networks going to be a viable option?

PacketLight's next-generation standardised solutions may be the answer. Click below to read the full article.
