uDraw coming to Xbox, PS3

By

THQ's uDraw GameTablet is heading for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in time for Christmas.

The original uDraw GameTablet was launched in Australia earlier this year. It is a 4 x 6in pressure-sensitive graphics tablet for use with the Nintendo Wii.

It worked in part by docking with a Wii Remote as a source of pawer and to allow tilt and roll gameplay.

THQ has now announced that new versions of the uDraw GameTablet will be released this year for the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. While the new tablets will be on show at the E3 Expo next month, they aren't scheduled to arrive until the Christmas buying season.

The Xbox (pictured) and Playstation versions have new styling, and incorporate the normal controller buttons. They also include multitouch gestures including pinch and rotate.

"As soon as we introduced uDraw last year, Xbox 360 and PS3 fans began asking when they could experience it, too - and later this year, they can," said THQ president and CEO Brian Farrell. "The uDraw offers amazing innovation and opens new doors of artistic possibility. There's no console-based artistic tool like it."

No indication was given of likely prices.

THQ is also planning new software for the uDraw. uDraw Studio: Instant Artist will be bundled with the Xbox and Playstation models. Games will include Pictionary: Ultimate Edition (Xbox/Playstation), and The Penguins of Madagascar (Wii). Additional titles are expected this year and next.
