The Last Of Us: Bestselling PS3 title 2013


The Last Of Us is a gloomy and glum experience.  But it is an exquisitely crafted and satisfying gloomy and glum experience.  Because of this mature style gaming approach, and perhaps because it is backed by the known quality developer studio in Naughty Dog, sales have been excellent.

Sony Computer Entertainment today announced the sales success of the PS3 exclusive The Last Of Us.

Developed by Naughty Dog, The Last of Us is a post-apocalyptic third person action game inspired by fiction such as The Road and The Walking Dead.  For a video game it is unusual in its focus on the human element of the struggle to survive a harsh and hostile environment.

Some may argue that it could have gone further with its game-play around the survival aspects.  Certainly it is recommended to play the game on ‘hard’ settings.  It is true however that regardless of how a player makes their way through the game; The Last of US will leave a, well, lasting impression.

One reason for this is the simply superb performance capture of the games characters.  And for the most part the game-play is extremely satisfying as well.

For Sony all sales expectations have also been extremely satisfying.  The Last Of Us has exceeded 3.4 million in sales globally, putting it top of the list for PS3 in 2013.
