Optus offers free EPL as sign-up bonus

By

A free 2016/17 season pass to English Premier League (EPL) football is available as a sweetener on Optus postpaid mobile plans as low as $30 a month.

The regular price for EPL coverage from Optus is $15 a month, or it is free on certain phone and broadband plans that cost at least $85 a month.

But Optus today unveiled a promotion that adds the EPL subscription to certain plans down to the $30 SIM only.

The offer lasts until 31 July.

"Today, we're shaking up the market even more by offering our customers more of the content they love. From data-free prepaid music streaming, to the Premier League, Optus is changing people's expectations of their telco provider," said Optus managing director of marketing and product Ben White.

"To celebrate our first Premier League season, we're making it more affordable than ever by giving customers their first season for free on a range of plans from as little as $30 a month."

But there was no indication that existing Optus customers on the relevant plans will receive this bonus, so they are presumably expected to upgrade to a higher plan, pay $15 a month, or do without.
