LG X-Boom raises the roof with 600W RMS

LG’s new X-Boom FREESTYLER FH6 is an all-in-one, stereo sound system. It is not compulsory to play it at high volume but with 600W RMS – what the heck!

It is the latest in the "simplification" of speakers. It has four speakers (dual 8” woofers, dual 1” mid/tweeters), most of the “cool smart stuff”, and can be used upright or horizontal.

It can be driven by USB for digital sound; Bluetooth multipoint for up to three Android (NFC), iOS smartphones and tablets (and a smartphone app); Bluetooth connectivity for Windows and macOS; Sound Sync to LG smart TVs; stereo RCA; or via a two 6.5mm microphone jacks/. You can pair them via Wireless party link. It also has an FM radio and external antenna socket.

This is a very versatile, if obviously large, loudspeaker, ideal for the man cave, gymnasium, BBQ, party …

What LG has to say

“If you entertain people at home — parties, BBQs, even just a Friday night with your mates in front of the footy  the LG X-BOOM Freestyler transforms quickly from a wireless TV sound bar to a Bluetooth music system with karaoke features. It’s incredibly diverse,” said Grant Vandenberg, Marketing Manager for Home Entertainment at LG Electronics.

“The LG X-BOOM Freestyler is the modern day boombox. There’s resurgence in larger all-in-one music systems that can be used in a wide range of situations that pump out loud and high-quality sound. The Bluetooth market is performing strongly, currently growing at 37% year-on-year and the LG X-BOOM Freestyler competes in this space,” he added.

As seems obligatory with the industrial funk design you get DJ ‘creation’ with sound effects from turntable scratch, Flanging, Phasing, Wah, Delay and much more. You can spice up your music with six fun pre-set sound effects, ranging from crowd effects to drum beats. Plus, you can create your own sounds. It has an EQ as well – standard, pop, classic, rock, jazz and Bass Blast.

It even has dual microphone inputs for dreaded karaoke as well as a voice changer and key changer – who says all Karaoke has to be bad?

Also obligatory is the smart LED multicolour lighting – all fully adjustable from the app or remote control unit. It includes Rhythm, Party, Firework, Space, Water, Forest, Cityglow and Mystyle (via the app).

Size-wise it is 818mm x 318mm x 388mm and a luggable 17.2kg. It runs off 240V power.

There many more functions so if you are interested in the FH6 click the Australian link here or read the manual here.

Price: $599 from most major retailers or online.
