The game will apparently follow a new fictional history of Lara Croft, with a statement reading, 'After a brutal storm destroys the boat she was travelling on, a frightened young woman is left washed ashore on an unknown beach. On her own but not alone, she has only one goal, to survive.'
In a comment, the magazine has said that, 'To build an entirely fresh Lara - a culturally relevant hero worth of the attention that once came so effortlessly - [Developer Crystal Dynamics] must break her first.'
There is also fresh news that the new game will be shown next week in some form at Jump Festa, a anime/technology convention taking place in Japan.
The game's Publisher Square Enix will be attending the event and has listed each game it will be showcasing the convention except for one, labelling it '???' instead.
"???" would probably not be the easiest game title to pronounce, so chances are the game is Tomb Raider-related.
Since the release of the original Tomb Raider in 1996, the series has developed into a lucrative franchise of related media, and Lara has become a major icon of the video game industry. The Guinness Book of World Records has recognised Lara Croft as the "Most Successful Human Videogame Heroine" in 2006.
