Kogan makes SmarterHome range smarter with new models and Google/Alexa assistant smarts

With Kogan's entire range of SmarterHome products now working with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, and a smart pre-sale bonus offer, the smart move looks to be making your home smarter! is expanding its SmarterHome range, stating it is "giving more Aussies the opportunity to have connected homes – without the hefty price tag".

Naturally, these devices are "designed to make your entire home smarter for a fraction of the cost" and see "two portable air conditioners, four light bulb options and a smart plug have been added to the range".

As noted above, all of Kogan's SmarterHome products "can now be connected to Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, to provide a seamless smart home experience. All you have to do is say 'OK Google, set the air conditioner to 21 degrees', and watch it go, with a presumably almost identical command for Alexa's speakers to perform the same technological magic.

As per usual with new products from Kogan, the new range is available for pre-sale, with that aforementioned "bonus offer for a limited time" that is detailed below.

Perfect room temperature from anywhere

For those looking for a cooling and heating system that can be used all year round, Kogan says it has "added two smart, portable air conditioners to the SmarterHome range".

The Kogan SmarterHome Air Conditioners can "dehumidify, heat, and cool a room all in one portable appliance".

There's also a "SmarterHome App", which lets you "schedule the air conditioner to heat or cool your home at specific times – so you come home to a perfect temperature room".

And, as Kogan notes, "remote access to the products on the smartphone app gives Aussies more control over their homes and energy bills to help minimise energy consumption any time of year".

There are two models – the 14,000 BTU SmarterHome Air Conditioner is priced at $899, while the the 18,000 BTU SmarterHome Air Conditioner goes for $999.

Those who place pre-sale orders will also be eligible for a limited bonus of:

  • Free shipping;
  • 4 SmarterHome bulbs (2 ambient and 2 white);
  • 4 SmarterHome plugs; and
  • A Google Home.

Not your average light bulb

Here, Kogan boasts you can "control lighting in any room with a simple command".

These new Kogan SmarterHome bulbs give you "the ability to easily adjust your lighting preferences. With the inclusion of adjustable timers and preset times, it offers an extra layer of security when you forget to turn off the lights, or when you want to show you’re at home".

As noted, they're also "compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, giving you the freedom to say 'OK Google, turn on the hallway lights', without having to lift a finger".

We're told that "you can choose from screw-in and two prong bulbs, in both white and ambient options.

"The ambient smart bulb provides natural lighting to a room, with the option to change to another colour – the Kogan SmarterHome app provides you with 16 million colours to choose from. They’re available on pre-sale now starting from $69 for a pack of four".

Make any device smarter

With the launch of the Kogan SmarterHome Plug, even "dumb" devices can now be "connected and controlled through the free Kogan SmarterHome App, giving traditional products longer life spans".

"Upgrading any device into a smart appliance is now as simple as plugging it into a wall socket. The app will show how much energy is being consumed, helping Aussies keep on top of their energy bills.

"With connectivity to Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, there is more freedom and accessibility to switch things on and off, from anywhere and at any time."

The Kogan SmarterHome Plug is on pre-sale for $99 per four pack.

The man who knows "y" for virtually everything Kogan is Sergiy Bobrovnychyy, director of Exclusive Brands and Offycyal Global Sponsor of the letter Y in an honour bestowed by me, said: “Smart home products help make our lives easier. No one wants to fork out their hard earned cash for products and appliances that are time-consuming to use, or add more stress to our homes.

“The SmarterHome range incorporates smart technologies into everyday appliances, helping to improve our lives, 365 days a year. Whether you’re trying to conserve energy consumption or simply want a more accessible way to switch off the lights, is making it easier to control your devices anytime, anywhere.

“We are here to make the most in-demand technology more affordable, and today’s launch will help more people create a smarter home for less.”

The Kogan SmarterHome App is available to download for free on iOS and Android
