DayZ Zombies stand alone

Run!, Run! The zombies are coming!  DayZ, the Arma2 mod that brings the Zombie Apocalypse to a serious modern day war simulator will be going it alone as a stand-alone retail release.

In another fine example of how successful the video game modification scene can be, Bohemia Interactive, developer of the military simulator game Arma 2 has confirmed that the highly successful mod Day Z will be developed as a standalone PC exclusive.

According to lead developer Dean Hall’s tumblr website “Development and updates of the mod will continue in parallel with the development of the game, so anyone who is playing the mod now will be able to continue to do so. The project will follow the Minecraft development model; fast iterations with the community alpha available for a heavily discounted price.”

This may be great news to the explosion of players that followed the modifications recent release.  Sales of 2009 released Arma 2 jumped by 500 per cent when the modification hit servers back in May, and the buzz for the game has been high ever since.

{lloadposition mike08}DayZ throws you deep into the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse, armed with little more than your wits, and relying on other players to be friendly and cooperative to survive.

Bohemia Interactive’s announcement fuels the rumours of a DayZ MMO (massive multiplayer online) game that may be the final outcome of this work.
