On Tuesday we reported the open-world game was likely facing delays in Australia, with a new release date to be sometime in September, despite the game having already been released in other countries.
Local distributor AIE today confirmed the game would now be launching on 12 September, presumably to give the game's developers time to modify the game to comply with Australia's gaming classification, as it was previously banned then censored after a drug-related side mission was removed.
“Australian fans of Saints Row IV will obviously be disappointed with this delay,” said Robert Kingston, Director at All Interactive Entertainment. “We have used every means at our disposal to minimise the delay, but unfortunately it just was not possible to keep the same street date as the rest of the world.”
Valve's distribution service Steam describes the Australian version as a "low violence version" and lists the release date for September 2013.
