When your business is over 100 years old, and you underwent tech transformations in the distant past with punch card machines and more, it would seem natural that your business would want to engage in much more modern digital transformation.
Of course, such things don’t necessarily come easily to incumbent organisations with decades of experience being in business, but with nimble start-ups born into a digital world, it’s necessary for large companies to compete and digitally transform themselves should they wish to stay in business for the next 10 years, let alone the next hundred.
So, it was fascinating to see the presentation from Dr. Birgit König, CEO, Allianz Health Insurance in Germany, who deftly explained the company’s challenges in going digital and how Pegasystems’ technologies have helped make it happen.
First, a bit of background. Allianz Health Insurance manages €30 billion in assets and insures 2.5 million people across Germany.
Allianz’s choice of Pegasystems software project has enabled Allianz "to meet the changing needs of fast and agile customers, while at the same time ensuring the required levels of stability and reliability".
To achieve its goal, Allianz Health Insurance is using Pegasystems’ Pega 7 rules-based technology as a middle layer in its IT systems.
The integration allows Allianz "to achieve a seamless data flow between its agile customer applications and the insurance professional core systems,’ and ‘will enable a faster and continuous transaction processing and increase the automation of processes".
Here’s the video from the Day 1 keynote presentation. A quote from Allianz’s Dr König and from Pegasystem’s founder and chief executive, Alan Trefler are below the video, please read on!
Dr. König said: “As an insurance company, we need stability and reliability in our IT systems. However, as a customer focused company, we must also balance that requirement with the need to remain agile and fast to meet changing customer demands.
“Working with Pega has allowed us to reach the balance. It has changed the way we work as well and we’ve already seen a significant improvement in our work efficiency and quality.”
Trefler said: “I’m proud Allianz has chosen to embark on this critical business transformation project with Pega.
“The increased efficiencies the organisation is already seeing demonstrate the power of delivering full end-to-end digital services. We’re looking forward to partnering with Allianz Health Insurance as they realise their long-term digital transformation ambitions.”
