Services have been hit across the country, the bank confirmed.
In a tweet, it said that it was also having issues with its ATMs and mobile banking.
We’re currently experiencing issues with multiple services, including Internet and Mobile Banking and ATMs and EFTPOs. Our teams are working to fix this as soon as possible. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.— NAB (@NAB) May 25, 2018
The first indication of there being a problem came shortly after 9am on Saturday.
@NAB Whats up with your internet banking and merchant services? I cant access my account or pay with my NAB card. Nor can the cafe where I get my morning coffee process any payments (from anyone). They have an NAB merchant service.— Matt Hall (@Hey_Nice_Marmot) 25 May 2018
About 45 minutes later, the bank said: "Sorry everyone, we’re still having issues with some of our services. The team is working to fix it ASAP and we’ll do our best to keep you updated."

Customers took to social media to complain. Some businesses, anticipating the usual Saturday morning sales, tried to advise possible customers in advance of the issues so they would bring cash to make purchases.

There is no indication of why the services have failed or when they will be back online.
