Expert360 said in a statement that there had been unprecedented demand for IT project managers, with the IT and telecommunications sector seeing a 498% increase in demand for those who had experience in infrastructure, applications, security, enterprise architecture, and data and analytics.
Expert360 chief executive and co-founder Bridget Loudon said this came as no surprise.
“An exponential number of businesses are going through large-scale digital transformation programs and are reliant on top external talent to drive this process,” she said.
"As a consequence, every business is now having to consider themselves an IT business, and are increasingly relying on the support of external IT project managers to assist this process.”
Loudon's company offers freelancers from all industries a dedicated channel for work. Last year,the the highest salary earned by an individual using the platform was $330,000, while the highest team earner received $1.7 million.
