BMC introduces smart multi-cloud IT service management

By

Digital operations software company BMC Software has announced the rebuild of its IT service-management tools, giving portability across private and public clouds as well as machine learning to enhance predictive analysis.

By using containers, BMC’s SaaS solution, Helix Cognitive Service Management, is now available on Microsoft Azure as well as AWS and BMC’s own cloud. This software manages applications, IT services and the infrastructure underneath those services, helping IT departments manage the requests, provisioning, automation and optimising of applications and services.

Using containers allows customers to use their cloud of choice, as well as leverage scalable and elastic service platforms.

BMC says the combined power and benefits of cloud, containers and cognitive capabilities will provide enterprises with unparalleled speed, accuracy and cost efficiency.

The firm also announced the availability of BMC Helix Discovery as a cloud service, helping businesses discover assets and services across on-premise and multi-cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, OpenStack, and Google Cloud.

“The power of containers enables BMC Helix to run on the customers’ cloud of choice and significantly improves the operational efficiencies to deliver speed, scale, and cost savings,” said Nayaki Nayyar, president, Digital Services Management at BMC. “In addition, with Helix Discovery, our customers have a choice to consume Discovery as a cloud service or on-prem solution.”

The BMC Helix Cognitive Service Management platform also includes

  1. BMC Helix Remedy to deliver predictive service management through auto-classification, assignment and routing of incidents;
  2. BMC Helix Business Workflows to extend the product’s facilities to business departments like HR, property and procurement;
  3. BMC Helix Digital Workplace to provide omni-channel communication across web, Slack, SMS, Skype and other facilities; and
  4. BMC Helix Innovation Suite, offering a cloud-native microservices-based platform that helps companies extend, customise, and integrate through REST APIs.
