StartCon supports the Pledge 1% movement

Pledge 1% is a non-profit global movement that’s creating a new normal for companies of all sizes and stages to integrate giving back into their culture and values.

Member companies pledge to give 1% of some combination of their time, product, profit, and/or equity to whatever social cause they choose.

StartCon is Australia's largest Start Up conference, with Uber, eBay, Airbnb just some of the international speakers, with 4000+ expected to arrive and around 100 international and local speakers, and they're proud Pledge 1% members.

For this wishing to take the pledge, they can do so here.

What's more on the Pledge 1% movement?

We're told that "It’s never too early to integrate the idea of giving back into your company’s culture and values.

"In fact, the earlier the better - it’s very difficult to change culture once it’s already been established. Leverage it now to attract and retain great talent. Pledge 1% companies tell us that their giving back culture is one of the top 3 reasons their employees choose to work there and why they stay. Plus, even if you’re a tiny company, setting aside a small piece of value today could have an exponential impact in the future."

Where do the funds go?

"It’s completely up to you how, when, and to what organisation(s) you give. Pledge 1% does not hold/disburse your funds or directly organise your time/product donations - they’re merely a catalyst and resource provider to guide you through the process of building impactful giving programs!"

Why join?

"By becoming a part of the movement, you get access to an incredible community of like-minded leaders, hundreds of resources and best practices, as well as great visibility (they love to promote their members!). There's no cost involved in becoming a member. All you need is the genuine intention to implement the pledge you make."

Who’s involved already?

"Pledge 1% has an amazing network of founders/CEOs from 8500+ companies in 100+ countries - including Atlassian, Culture Amp, Blackbird VC, Twilio, Box, Yelp, Docusign, Optimizely, Salesforce and many more—who are all committed to giving back."

How do I get started?

"If you’re a founder or business owner, you can either click on the link above or, sign-up as part of the StartCon registration process. Once you’ve signed up, a member of the Pledge 1% team will be in touch to walk you and your team through the next steps."

Pledge 1% urges you not to miss out on the opportunity to be part of a movement that is changing the business world.

You can take the pledge here.
