Ping pong master takes on robot

By

Man has taken on machine in various battles over the years and it's always an interesting battle - this one pits one of the world's best table tennis players, Timo Boll, against an extremely fast ping-pong playing robot.

German robotics firm KUKA has released a new movie today at the opening of its new factory in Shanghai, China, pitting European table-tennis master Timo Boll waging war against KUKA's "KR Agilus" robot.

According to the company, it is a fight that "celebrates the inherent speed, precision, and flexibility of KUKA's industrial robots in tandem with Boll's electrifying and tactical prowess in competition".

I won't spoil the result but rest assured the game is definitely a tight one.

But is the video real? On YouTube the video currently sits on 169 'likes' and 388 'dislikes', with a number of commenters describing it as 'fake' and calling for a re-match.

Decide for yourself and check out the video below.
