Nvidia robotics researchers heading for Brisbane

By

GPU vendor Nvidia is sending two of its senior robotics researchers to a major conference in Brisbane.

The International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) is being held in Brisbane next week.

Among the presenters will be Nvidia vice-president of engineering and robotics Claire Delaunay, and senior director of robotics research Dieter Fox.

Delaunay was worked in robotics at organisations including Google and Uber, while Fox also runs the University of Washington Robotics and State Estimation Lab.

Nvidia Research presentations at ICRA will be on topics including real-time visual object tracking, deep visuomotor control, and a system for inferring and executing a human-readable program from a real-world demonstration.

Other speakers include CSIRO/Data61's Stefan Hravar, QUT research fellow Matthew Dunbabin, University of Sydney Professor Stefan WIlliams, MIT Professor Emeritus Rodney Brooks, and DeepMind senior research scientist Raia Hadsell.

Alongside the conference, Nvidia is holding a pair of free meetups for Jetson developers at the Fox Hotel in South Brisbane on 21 and 22 May. Attendees will be able to order one or two Jetson TX2 developer kits at half price ($599).
