Aristocrat and eBet settle over patents


Gaming technology company eBet Limited (ASX: EBT)has reached an out of court settlement relating to proceedings commenced by Aristocrat Technologies Australia (ASX: ALL) in mid 2003 relating to the alleged infringement by eBet of some of Aristocrat's patents.

eBet develops and markets a range of networked solutions for gaming machines, which includes card-based cashless gaming systems, player tracking and loyalty systems and data management solutions. The company has installations in gaming venues in Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Greece and Singapore.

The settlement included eBet and Aristocrat entering into a software development and supply agreement, under which each party is required to develop, provide and maintain software and software functionality, providing individual components of both the Aristocrat and eBet Systems with operational compatibility.

The details of the settlement in terms of money and other matters have not been disclosed.
