Under the deal Megaport’s elastic interconnection service will provide direct, scalable connectivity to the Salesforce platform.
Megaport says that as a Salesforce Express Connect Partner, it can boost performance, increase application reliability, as well as help meet industry regulatory and compliance demands by establishing a direct, private connection to the Salesforce infrastructure through its global SDN.
“Salesforce has revolutionised the way that businesses go to market and has fundamentally transformed how companies build digital relationships with customers,” said Vincent English, chief executive, Megaport.
“We are thrilled that Megaport has been recognised as a Salesforce Express Connect partner and is helping global companies across industries connect with their customers in new ways,” said John Carney, senior vice-president, Industries, Communications and Media, Salesforce.
“Megaport's industry expertise in network connectivity and innovative Network as a Service model will benefit our mutual customers and help boost performance.”
Key features of the deal include:
- Connectivity with Megaport to the Salesforce Platform is available in two markets from North America and one market from EMEA. Initial markets and data centres include San Jose, Ashburn, and Frankfurt. Additional data centers are in the planning phases for 2018.
- Megaport users will be able to provision private, secure and direct connections to the Salesforce Platform services from 185+ Megaport enabled data centres.
The Megaport-Salesforce deal follows Megaport’s announcement this week that it has partnered with Cinia Oy, creator of intelligent connectivity solutions, to enable enterprises with direct access to Cloud Service Providers and to extend Cinia’s network services reach.
“The core tenet of Megaport is making connectivity easy,” said English. “We overcome barriers to entry for cloud adoption by making it easy to get connected directly to Cloud, Managed, and Network Service Providers. This enables scalability, consistent performance, and bandwidth optimisation that helps reduce total cost of ownership. Our Software Defined Network empowers enterprises to architect multicloud and hybrid cloud connectivity. For maximum ease of use, customers can order services in real-time via our Portal or through our API.
“Our partnership with Cinia enables Finnish enterprises with direct cloud access via Cinia’s robust national and international network. Cinia is an agile industry-leading service provider and we are proud to partner with them to elevate connectivity options in Finland.”
Cinia has leveraged Megaport’s global SDN as a part of its cMatrix service, a customer-specific direct connect solution that bypasses the internet and gives enterprises direct access to CSPs and the data centres in Europe where CSPs enable their services.
The deal sees enterprises access Megaport’s Ecosystem of over 250 service providers including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, IBM Cloud, and Alibaba Cloud with high capacity and low latency through Cinia’s C-Lion1 Submarine cable, the most direct route from Finland to Central and West Europe.
