BidEnergy snares first contract with NSW government procurement agency

Energy spend management company, Bid Energy, has  signed its first government contract with NSW Government organisation, NSW Procurement, to provide invoice review and reporting services for up to 3100 small gas accounts, for the supply of natural gas.

Under the 12-month agreement, BidEnergy, which  is currently a prequalified supplier on the NSW Government’s Performance and Management Services Scheme, will deploy its platform to automatically capture invoices for all of the NSW Government’s small gas accounts, and provide monthly reporting to NSW Procurement on invoice issues and cost reduction opportunities.

The agreement will see the ASX-listed BidEnergy (ASX:BID) start work on the contract on 1 January and follows the company’s review of a sample of small gas sites, and business case development.

BidEnergy managing director Stuart Allinson said, "Being aligned with governments is a big story globally for BidEnergy”.

“Government agencies in our core markets of UK/US/Australia are experiencing challenges in accessing data and controlling their energy spend, and our supplier-agnostic approach enables us to work with governments when many organisations would be prevented on probity grounds.

"Government is a key target area for growth for us - so absolutely we will be waiting to take on other contracts in that field.

"We will capture all of NSW government's small gas invoices - thousands of separate accounts, analysing them on the fly and providing a monthly report to Procurement NSW on errors and opportunities to reduce costs.

"This will also open the door to the possibility of providing a broader range of services to individual agencies (but noting this would be by separate agreement, and not promoted by PNSW).

“Amazon Web Services will be pleased because we use AWS and this is consistent with a Cloud First purchasing strategy that is being adopted by many governments, including NSW.”
