ownCloud releases new version of mobile app for Android

ownCloud releases new version of mobile app for Android Supplied

Open-source file syncing and sharing software company ownCloud has released a new version of its mobile app for Android, which it says provides more options for accessing and organising files stored in ownCloud accounts.

A statement from the company said a new feature, known as Document Provider, made it possible for files stored in an ownCloud account to be opened, edited or sent directly from within other apps.

This has been made possible by integration with the default file handling app on an Android mobile. Choosing one's ownCloud account from the file manager will show all files that are stored in that account.

Version 2.11 is also claimed to make the uploading of files easier and enables users to easily create and submit log files to improve future development.

An additional feature is the Available Offline option, that gives app users access to all files, which keeps files synchronised with those in the cloud.

The new version is now available on the Google Play Store and costs US$0.99.
