Xero boosts sales team with new chief

Accounting software company, Xero, has appointed a new head of its sales operation in Australia responsible for driving the adoption of its cloud based systems by start-up companies and the small business community.

Xero Australian managing director, Chris Ridd, announced the appointment of David New as national sales manager who he said would develop market opportunities as the company continued to grow its market share in Australia.

'We're growing quickly in Australia as more accountants and small businesses are experiencing the benefits Xero provides. We needed an experienced sales director to join the Australian team, to lead our sales activity and maximise the opportunities we're seeing as more businesses embrace cloud technologies,' Ridd said.

According to New, the online accounting market in Australia looks set for significant growth. 'The days of buying and installing accounting software, experiencing issues with upgrades and wasting time sending documents back and forward to the accountant are over. We really have reached the tipping point in Australia and I'm looking forward to being able to demonstrate to accountants and their clients, just what Xero can do for them.'

New previously worked for Micronet Systems and Attaché Software in Australia, and as an auditor with professional services firm, KPMG.
