Telstra woos cable users with boost in speeds

Telstra has gone all out to secure the loyalty of its half a million cable customers on their standard cable speed tier, giving them — at no additional cost — a boost in maximum download speeds from 30Mbps to a maximum of 50Mbps.

In addition, the offer provides an increase in upload speeds from up to 1Mbps to a maximum of 5Mbps.

According to Telstra, customers just need to switch off their modem for a couple of minutes, and when they switch it back on their new speed profile should be configured.

“We know how integral fast broadband is to your life. And that you’re increasingly streaming video to screens big and small throughout the home. That’s why we’ve just sped up our cable service so our loyal home and small business cable customers get faster speeds at no extra cost,” says Jana Kotatko, head of Fixed Products, Telstra.

Kotako says the boost for cable customers follows Telstra’s announcement last month to upgrade approximately 850,000 Telstra home and small business customers to the Standard Plus speed tier at no additional cost – of which she says approximately 800,000 customers have already been upgraded.

“This means over the past two months, we have upgraded Internet speeds for more than 1.3 million consumer and small business customers – for no additional charge,” Kotako added.
