Paragon Partition Manager gains GPT compatibility and speed

By

Version 12 of Paragon Partition Manager is faster, safer and more capable, company officials claim.

Not everyone needs to mess around with disk partitioning. Indeed, for the average user it's something best left alone.

But when you do need to address this task, it helps to have a tool with plenty of features - and performance is also a consideration.

Paragon Software says its Partition Manager 12 is one of the fastest and most reliable products on the market.

It includes a new partitioning engine with support for GPT partitioning schemes and all major file systems. Thus it can convert a NTFS volume to HFS+ or vice versa.

New features include the ability to mount virtual hard drives directly (with snapshotting so changes aren't applied until after the user has had a chance to test them), and MBR to GPT conversion.

Paragon Partition Manager 12 also includes a driver that allows the use of GPT partitioning with Windows XP, plus the ability to create a Windows-based rescue drive (WinPE CD, DVD, blu-ray disc or USB stick) with most Partition Manager features.

The software has been tested for Windows 8 compatibility using the Developer Preview.

"The new partitioning engine is the fastest and most powerful Paragon has developed to date," said CEO Konstantin Komarov.

"This makes it a must-have item for all PC users who want to organise their data storage systems by dividing or re-dividing them and have the maximum flexibility when working with their data."

Paragon Partition Manager 12 Home costs €29.95, while the Professional version is €49.95.
