Keyboard Maestro 4.1 gains interface improvements and more

By
Improvements to version 4.1 of Keyboard Maestro focus on in-application documentation and usability.

Keyboard Maestro 4.1 from veteran Mac developer Peter N Lewis's Stairways Software features new in-application tutorials, help and documentation, along with some timesaving changes.

Keyboard Maestro is a macro utility for Mac OS X. Macros can be triggered from the keyboard or mouse, by time or at intervals, when an application is launched or is running, from an iPhone, or from the Internet via a built-in web server.

Other new features in version 4.1 include menus and keyboard shortcuts for toggling Edit mode, showing and hiding the action list and recording, a mechanism for controlling sort order in the Status menu and floating palette, and provision for menu items that toggle (eg, between Show and Hide) and buttons that contain ellipses.

It also sees the return of the ability to sort by trigger ("helpful for when trying to find a free hot key," said Lewis), something that was missing from version 4.0.

Keyboard Maestro 4.1 appears to be a free upgrade from version 4.0. New licences cost $US36; volume discounts are available.

A fully-functional trial version is available here. Keyboard Maestro 4.1 requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later, and runs on PowerPC or Intel based Macs.
