Epson targets classrooms and meeting rooms with new video projectors

By

Epson's latest video projectors in the 1900 family feature WUXGA (1280 x 800) resolution and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Part of Epson's midrange video projector lineup, the EB-1970W ($2,199; pictured above), EB-1975W ($2,299), EB-1980WU ($1,999) and EB-1985WU ($2,399) are aimed at the corporate and classroom markets.

According to Epson Australia business division general manager Craig Heckenberg, "it’s actually more cost efficient to install projectors from the new 1900 series than a flat panel display as there is no wall mounting involved and all models are able to be used as desk projectors."

Depending on the model, the new projectors offer from 4,400 to 5,000 Lumen brightness. Screen sizes between 30 and 300in are catered for.

HDMI, MHL, composite video, VGA, USB, Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity are standard across the range, and the automatic setup function simplifies focus, zoom, horizontal and vertical keystone adjustment.

Some models support split-screen operation (to show two input signals simultaneously at 960 x 600 pixels), or remote network monitoring and control (allowing up to 1024 projectors to be controlled from one location).

The members of the 1900 series provide various combinations of WiDi, Miracast and Epson iProjection compatibility.

iProjection is Epson's iOS and Android app that allows the display of PDF, JPEG, TIFF and PNG documents, and it also includes a web browser. The iOS version also handles Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Keynote documents.

These projectors will ship in early September.
