Creative adds noise suppression to webcam range

By

Aimed at the video conferencing market as well as users of Skype and other video-capable applications, new models in Creative's Live! Cam range provide HD video and noise reduction.

At the top of the new range is the Creative Live! Cam Connect HD 1080 ($99.95), featuring 1080p HD video at up to 30 fps and auto focussing.

Dual stereo microphones coupled with Creative's CrystalVoice technology reduce background noise, avoiding the need to use a headset during conference calls.

"With the Creative Live! Cam Connect HD 1080 we are introducing the first web camera with our CrystalVoice technology, surpassing the capabilities of integrated cameras and web cameras alike with precision voice accuracy and ultimate clarity," said Low Long Chye, director of product marketing at Creative.

"We're excited to implement technologies from our award-winning audio solutions into a web camera to provide a superior communications experience."

Live! Cam Connect HD ($79.95) delivers 720p video at 30 fps and includes a noise-cancelling microphone.

Finally, there's the Live! Cam Sync HD ($29.95) which has a fixed-focus lens instead of the liquid-crystal auto-focus feature of its more expensive siblings, but still includes a noise-cancelling microphone.

All models work with Windows, Mac OS X 10.5 and Linux 2.6, and include software for creating videos, sharing clips via Facebook and YouTube, and for using the camera remotely as a surveillance device.

The Creative Live! Cam Connect HD is available immediately, while the Connect HD 1080 and the Sync HD will be available from November 1.
