Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise OpenTouch UC now for SMBs


Small and medium businesses (SMBs) need scalable communications to facilitate business growth and cater to a new generation of more agile, mobile, employees.

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) has expanded its enterprise level unified communications suite to cater for the needs of small business users via its Alcatel-Lucent OpenTouch Suite for SMBs.

It is part of its OmniPCX Office RCE release 10.2 – a feature-rich, end-to-end converged communication server supporting enhanced capabilities:

  • A simplified unified communications offer
  • Expanded mobility and BYOD solutions and
  • Streamlined ordering processes

Damien Delard, Head of SMB Business, ALE, said: “The new OpenTouch Suite for SMB and its enhanced applications delivers advances in communications so SMBs can also gain business benefits from unified communications and mobility. Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Business Partners are better equipped to meet the needs of SMBs who seek simple to install, easy to use and maintain technology that evolves with their business.”

Its OpenTouch Conversation (OTCV) mobile application gives employees access to the same communication and collaboration services on the road as in the office resulting in faster responses to internal or external conversations. It also includes OpenTouch Contactless Call Shift for Android that uses Near Field Communications (NFC) to transfer an active call from one device to another.

The recommended handset - Alcatel-Lucent 8001 DeskPhone - delivers advanced features of a SIP phone at an affordable, entry-level price. Remote or on-site workers can also benefit from the Alcatel-Lucent IP Desktop Softphone, a multimedia, fully integrated telephony application providing voice communications on a user’s desktop, iPhone, iPad and Android tablets and smartphones.

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise have been very successful in the hospitality solution arena and this enables 2 and 3 star hotels up to 200 users to access a cost effective solution.

ALE Business Partners can access SMB Sales Assistant that helps simplify the sales quotation process by building solutions easily online or via a tablet while in person with the customer. The new ecommerce-looking tool synchs with the catalog and ordering process making it easier for the business partner to interact and capture the needs of the customer.
