Earlier this year, the company announced a new generation data centre architecture that makes more power available to customer equipment, occupies less floor space and improves energy efficiency without increasing costs.
Digital Realty now reports that its Turn-Key Flex data centres provided 99.999% uptime for the sixth consecutive year in 2012.
"Our data centre infrastructure not only performed as expected under normal circumstances, we experienced zero down time in Digital Realty owned and operated data centres in the path of Superstorm Sandy.
"This is a testament not only to the strength and resiliency of our designs, but also to the teams we have on the ground operating the data centres on behalf of our customers."
Senior vice president of portfolio management Dave Caron ascribed the high levels of uptime to Digital Realty's "standards-based approach to construction, operations and a rigorous maintenance program coupled with the industry leading team of experts managing our data centres".
Digital Realty's customers include telecommunications network providers, IT services firms, and financial services organisations (including National Australia Bank).
