PrinterOn updates iOS app

PrinterOn's latest mobile printing app for iPhone and iPad makes it easier to find the right printer.

PrinterOn provides an enterprise-grade platform for mobile printing, making it easy to print to multiple printers on multiple networks, either locally or at remote locations.

The system has a unique architecture according to company officials, as it uses a cloud component for printer configuration, administration and discovery, while an on-premises component handles the print jobs so that print data need never go outside the firewall.

The company recently released a completely rewritten version of its iOS app.

Changes include the ability to search for printers by keyword (typically name) or location (using the device's GPS location to find nearby printers), selecting a printer from the user's favourites, and a list of printers that the user is authorised to use.

PrinterOn apps are also available for Android, BlackBerry, Kindle and Nook. The system can also be used to print from notebooks by sending the document via email or a web portal, or by using the PrintWhere driver for Windows.

PrinterOn supports remote printing from Oracle, SAP and Citrix, and integrates with most print management systems.

It also makes provision for public print locations, which in Australia are mostly hotels offering print services to their guests.
