ManageEngine boosts self-service password capability

ManageEngine's ADSelfService Plus self-service password management system is now integrated with the company's ADManager Plus and ServiceDesk Plus products.

According to company officials, the advantage of ManageEngine's approach to self-service password management is that it makes provision for password and related changes to occur within existing authorisation processes.

For example, the new integration between ADSelfService Plus and ADManager Plus allows users to update their contact information in Active Directory via self-service.

But instead of making the change directly, the software generates a ServiceDesk Plus request which is then processed and approved by a help desk technician or an IT admin according to workflow rules.

Users can then check the status of such requests by themselves, without having to phone or email the help desk.

Overall, the idea is to allow users to do as much for themselves as is appropriate for their organisation, while retaining centralised oversight and control where it is needed.

"This integration will allow users and help desk staff to collaborate on IT issues to expedite resolution in a secure manner," said ManageEngine product manager Parthiban Paramasivam.

"IT admins can now take control of users' self-service actions and ensure that they are consistent and in compliance with their organisation's norms."

ADSelfService Plus is priced from $595 per year for 500 users. A free 30-day trial version is available.
