MariaDB TX 2.0 is a single offering comprising MariaDB Server, MariaDB MaxScale, database connectors, services and tools and includes the newly released MariaDB Server 10.2 and MariaDB MaxScale 2.1.
The release aims to offer a complete solution for specific workload needs, whether transactional, analytical or developer-focused.
The company says it has also delivered a new package for large-scale analytics: MariaDB AX. This includes MariaDB Server, MariaDB ColumnStore, MariaDB MaxScale, database connectors, services and tools.

"It is now available in Debian and Ubuntu (though not the default), but is the default in many others: RHEL/CentOS/Fedora, Arch Linux, openSUSE, Manjaro, SUSE Linux Enterprise and others," he said.
"We've seen a great deal of adoption from the MySQL community, both from individuals and enterprises alike. You can see that as we climb up the db-engines rankings.
"Where MS-SQL and Oracle are concerned, we continue to attract more and more enterprises seeking to standardise on MariaDB - sometimes it means migrating from Oracle, other times it means choosing to build new applications on MariaDB rather than provisioning more proprietary databases."
Features of MariaDB TX 2.0 include:
- JSON Support to enable broader use cases;
- Data masking and result set limiting for enhanced security;
- MyRocks for better performance and scale out capabilities; and
- SQL compatibility with common table expressions and window functions.
Johnson said that MariaDB was also well suited to the cloud, both in terms of technology and in pricing. "Customers run it on AWS and Azure and, according to a recent survey by OpenStack.org, it's now the most popular database on OpenStack.
"I think you'll continue to see more MariaDB not only on cloud infrastructure, but as part of hybrid on-premises/cloud infrastructure."
