NextDC selects Ciena, OTW for data centre connection project


Data centre provider NEXTDC is partnering with networking systems, services and software company Ciena to deploy Ciena’s Data Centre Interconnect (DCI) platform to connect its data centres and provide cloud and computing services to support its customers across Australia.

NEXTDC says telco services provider Over the Wire will simplify management and integration of Ciena into its platform, with Ciena Professional Services providing end-to-end network design and a customised delivery model to ensure “rapid deployment while adhering to pandemic guidelines”.

“NEXTDC plays a critical role in today’s climate where data centers support Australia’s economy by accelerating digital-first strategies. Ciena’s DCI platform will enable us to provide the agile foundation our customers need to thrive in a competitive marketplace and COVID-19 environment,” said Sean Rinas, Head of Network Operations, NEXTDC.

Matt Vesperman, Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand, Ciena said, “As the market leader in DCI, Ciena has proven solutions that will ensure NEXTDC meets insatiable demand for cloud-based content and gets data closer to end users.”
