The announcement of the new partnerships comes as Xero Australia managing director Chris Ridd, speaking to 1,600 attendees at the company’s Xerocon conference, revealed that the New Zealand-based company expects to reach the “significant milestone” of more than 250,000 paying subscribers using its accounting platform in Australia.
The Australian milestone follows Xero’s recent announcement that it has surpassed 540,000 paying subscribers globally, with that growth underpinned by Australia as a key growth market. Xero is in fierce competition for market dominance in the Australia-New Zealand market from a raft of other players in the accounting software space including Australian companies MYOB and Reckon, as well relatively new entrant to the market, US giant Intuit, makers of Quickbooks.
Ridd says Australian subscribers will become among the first to benefit from the major partnerships with the likes of Adobe and Dropbox, “giving small businesses more choice than ever before about the tools they can use to manage all aspects of their business.”
Ridd said Dropbox, the primary sponsor of Xerocon 2015, is working with Xero to integrate its popular Dropbox for Business platform with Xero Tax, making it easier for partners to store and share documents in one location, and enabling accountants and bookkeepers to collaborate with their clients on key documents.
And, Adobe is working with Xero to integrate its Adobe Document Cloud eSign services across Xero’s platform. The integration will enable accountants and small businesses to electronically sign and submit their tax documents, from business activity statements to end-of-year tax returns, entirely online, without the need to print, sign and post those documents.
Ridd said Australian partners using the Xero Practice Suite will be the first to gain access to the Dropbox and Adobe integrations in Xero from mid-September.
The partnership with Bigcommerce - one of the largest e-commerce platforms globally – will enable more than 95,000 retail merchants and online stores to push sales data directly into Xero, starting later this year. Ridd said online store owners using the BigCommerce platform will soon be able to easily save time, accurately reconcile transactional data and spend more time selling, thanks to the integration with Xero.
Insightly, a web based CRM and project management software for more than 500,000 small businesses, is partnering with Xero to offer users a complete picture of their business. It will enable small businesses to view their sales process, from early prospect communication through the sales process to invoicing and payments, removing manual data entry and eradicating errors.
Other partnerships established by Xero include Veda and Mindbody.
• Veda, the data analytics company and provider of credit information and analysis in Australia and New Zealand, is helping Xero to build a new business directory for subscribers. Using Veda’s rich data sources, the directory will enable businesses to search and verify complete and accurate business contact records, including credit risk information, for existing and prospective customers and suppliers. The feature is a free aspect of Xero’s Contacts capabilities and will help businesses to better manage their credit risk and avoid bad debts
• Mindbody, an online business management system for health, wellness and beauty professionals, will soon enable its customers to sync sales data to Xero automatically, allowing gyms, fitness studios and others to get significant insights into their business performance.
