New MacBook a port-less wonder Featured

By

It would be tempting to describe the newly unveiled MacBook as a gutless wonder, given that just about everything has been ripped out including the fan. However, the real description should be port-less wonder and for many this appears to signal a disturbing trend.

For those of you who don’t already know, the new MacBook, so thin you could almost use it to shave, only has one IO slot – the power port! Apple’s single MacBook USB-C port is supposed to serve multiple IO uses including power, USB, HDMI, DisplayPort, FireWire and whatever.

This single MacBook USB-C port is very versatile indeed. It is so versatile that users will need a multiport dongle attachment to make use of it.

In fact, unless Apple supplies it with the new MacBook for free, users will need to buy the dongle from Apple and not forget to carry it around with them in case they need to do more than one IO function at once.

Yes, there will be cheap imitations of the dongle but hey, you know that unless it’s made by Apple it’s probably not safe.

Anyway, with the revelation that the new Apple Watch will need an iPhone 6 in your pocket to work properly, making it an accessory rather than a standalone product, should we be surprised that this new improved MacBook will need an accessory to give it the full functionality of its multiport predecessor?

A rather humorous take on the new MacBook port-less wonder can be found in the video below. Apple Fanboys be warned, you will not find this funny!
