Famed Mac rumours website MacRumors was first to notice that Apple had registered three domain names centred around automobiles.
The domains were registered in December 2015.
Various news reports have suggested Apple’s auto project is called Project Titan, with other reports noting Apple’s poaching of staff from Tesla - among other automotive firms.
Even Tesla’s CEO and founder, Elon Musk, boasted of Apple poaching former staff, although Musk reportedly tried suggesting it was a ‘graveyard’ of staff who couldn’t make it at Tesla.

Apple’s first car isn’t expected until 2019 or 2020, and as you’d likely imagine, it is expected to be electric.
