Apple.auto, apple.cars and apple.car registered by Apple

By

Although Apple does supply CarPlay to automakers, the crunch will surely come when Apple launches its own actual car, as these domains suggest will one day happen.

Famed Mac rumours website MacRumors was first to notice that Apple had registered three domain names centred around automobiles.

The domains are apple.autoapple.cars and apple.car, with the links taking you to a whois record for each domain name, and with none of the domains actually being active as yet.

The domains were registered in December 2015.

Various news reports have suggested Apple’s auto project is called Project Titan, with other reports noting Apple’s poaching of staff from Tesla - among other automotive firms.

Even Tesla’s CEO and founder, Elon Musk, boasted of Apple poaching former staff, although Musk reportedly tried suggesting it was a ‘graveyard’ of staff who couldn’t make it at Tesla

More info below.

Apple’s first car isn’t expected until 2019 or 2020, and as you’d likely imagine, it is expected to be electric.
