Sage enters fiercely competitive accounting software market Featured

A new player has debuted in the highly competitive online accounting software market, with UK-based Sage launching in Australia as Sage One.

Sage One joins accounting software market leader MYOB, NZ-based challenger Xero and US company, Intuit, in the battle for cloud software marketshare in the Australia-New Zealand region.

Sage Australia, a subsidiary of the UK company, has created a new operating company for the launch of Sage One, offering its latest online accounting application for entrepreneurs and small businesses.

As part of its establishment into the Australian market, Sage One has appointed Lukas Taylor as the new General Manager.

According to Taylor, the Australian market is “ready for another online accounting solution”.  “Sage has been servicing accountants for over 20 years across the world and we have taken that knowledge and expertise to create Sage One for Australian small businesses and entrepreneurs. We offer a low cost, easy-to-use, reliable solution as well as the best support available in the Australian market.”

Prior to joining Sage One, Taylor was Chief Strategy Officer at JCurve Solutions where he was responsible for educating small businesses and accounting firms on cloud accounting. He previously worked for Macquarie Telecom as national partner manager.

“We are thrilled to have Lukas heading up the Sage One team.  Launching a new business unit and product in the highly competitive accounting solutions space, we need someone with Lukas’ knowledge and experience in both accounting cloud solutions and the businesses they serve,” Osrin said.

Osrin says Sage One will bring a new competitive offer to the Australian market “with dominant strengths that include low price, superior service and a proven heritage of accounting knowledge backing the new solution”.

Sage One has been wholly customised for the Australian market in the areas of tax compliance and awards interpretations around payroll.

“With the launch of Sage One in Australia, it is now a three horse race. Small business owners and their accountants have long needed a more reliable and easy-to-use solution that lets them focus on the business of doing business.

“Sage One manages all of the necessary and daunting financial components of running a business in a timely, accurate and cost efficient manner.”

Sage One will offer an all-in-one service to all clients including live telephone and email support and is available at an introductory price of just $15 per month for the total package.

“This has the potential to save small business an estimated $550-$800 per year compared to current solutions available in the market.  Sage One offers the safest and most advanced online security using similar technology to online banking systems which guarantees safe and secure data,” Osrin said.
