Record profit guidance from Candle send shares up

ICT recruiter, Candle Australia Limited (ASX:CND) has announced that it anticipates a record net profit after tax of around $3 million for the six months to 31 December 2004. This compares to $2.1 million net profit after tax for the previous corresponding period.

"The recruitment sector appears to be moving to more buoyant times. Given the stable macro economic environment, our strong market position, the success of our acquisitions, our ongoing efficiency improvements and our strong balance sheet, we are well positioned for consistent earnings and dividend growth", managing director Robert Collins said.

The announcement lends weight to claims from the recruitment industry that an ICT jobs recovery is well underway. CND shares were up 10c to close at $1.91 in brisk trading.
