Yesterday Optus announced that it had organised special goodie bags and priority queue-jumping for its customers that had taken the time to pre-order the iPhone 5.
So it made me wonder what Telstra has planned for tomorrow’s launch, and a Telstra representative pointed me to its blog posting.
Telstra says they’re “counting down to the launch of the iPhone 5” and “can’t wait to make it available on Australia’s largest and fastest national mobile network.”
While Telstra had Masterchef celebrities, camera crews, free nibblies and a fun atmosphere at its iPhone 4S launch last year at its flagship Sydney store (right across from Apple’s flagship Store on the corner of King and George Sts), Telstra is keeping whatever fun surprises it has in store for this year’s launch close to its chest.

Telstra notes this is also “in response to record interest” but it’s also clearly because that’s when Apple is opening its own stores to kick off iPhone 5 sales.
However, Telstra probably has other excitement up its sleeve, but you’ll have to go to one of its flagship Telstra T-Life stores to find out whether that’s the case, or not.
A PDF link of all 100 Telstra stores to offer the iPhone 5 is available to download here.
Meanwhile, Telstra’s flagship stores where pre-8am snacks are promised are as follows:
- Telstra Store – 400 George Street, Sydney
- Telstra Store – 246 Bourke Street (Cnr Swanston & Bourke), Melbourne
- Telstra Store – Queen St Mall, 152 Queen St, Brisbane
- Telstra Store – Cnr Rundle Mall & Pulteney Street, Adelaide
- Telstra Store – 667-669 Hay Street Mall, Perth
