New billing arrangements may discourage parents from letting their younger kids play games on Mum or Dad's BlackBerry.
A new deal between Optus and RIM means that not only can BlackBerry App World purchases be charged directly to the Optus account associated with the device, but the same goes for in-app purchases.
This might "help ensure their experiences are not interrupted" as Optus officials put it, but it also increases the risk of accidental purchases, or purchases being made without the account holder's permission.

On the positive side, it does eliminate the need to provide the vendor's site with credit or debit card details.
The partnerships announced today take us another step closer to the seamless connected world we're aiming to offer Optus customers," said Austin Bryan, VP of digital communities and ecosystems at SingTel and Optus.
"We're committed to providing customers with a simpler, safer and easier user experience when it comes to making payments online."
The new arrangements apply to prepaid and postpaid accounts, and Optus officials said they would be extended to platforms other than BlackBerry App World and Facebook.
