Featuring a carbon fibre top cover, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is the world's lightest 14in business ultrabook, company officials claimed.

The use of carbon fibre in the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon provides durability despite weighing in at just 1.36kg.

Features include a 14in antiglare display, "best in class" keyboard, multi-gesture touchpad, USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, SD Card reader, Mini DisplayPort, a 720p webcam, dual-array microphones, and a fingerprint reader.

Options include a choice of processors up to the third-generation Core i7, up to 256GB SSD, up to 8GB of RAM, and 3G mobile broadband (with hotspot capability).

Lenovo claims a battery life of up to 6.5 hours, with a rapid-charge feature that gives five hours use from a 35 minute charge.

"Very few brands are fortunate enough to have built a strong following that is passionate about each generation of ThinkPad products," said Alan Munro, managing director of Lenovo ANZ.

"With that in mind, we're excited to debut the ThinkPad X1 Carbon in Australia.

"We feel it meets the demand for an extremely thin and light laptop, with the performance users need to accomplish professional business goals."

Prices start at $1999.
