Your IT - Mobility

A deal between ShoreTel and HP will see the IT giant selling the ShoreTel Mobility mobile unified communications software as part of its fixed/mobile convergence portfolio.

ShoreTel Mobility delivers unified communications capabilities to mobile devices, and provides interoperability with PABX and unified communications systems from Cisco, Avaya, Alcatel-Lucent, ShoreTel, and Microsoft. The software works with a wide range of handsets including iPhone, BlackBerry, Nokia and Android 2.2.

"By collaborating with HP, ShoreTel will continue to empower enterprises to easily turn the chaos of BYOD into a powerful, cost-saving and productivity enhancing phenomenon," said Mark Arman, vice president of business development at ShoreTel.

"With the support of our expanding base of partners, ShoreTel sees tremendous opportunity in the coming year to strengthen our position as the fastest-growing and top-three player in the US and worldwide IP markets," he added.

Imran Khan, HP's vice president, network consulting, said "With the growing virtual workplace, now more than ever employees rely on mobile technology to stay connected.

"By collaborating with ShoreTel, customers are empowered to extend desk phone and UC capabilities to their mobile devices, allowing them to easily share information, increase responsiveness and improve productivity, all while reducing overall telecom costs."
