LogMeIn Rescue gains mobile device configuration capabilities

Your IT - Mobility

The latest version of the LogMeIn Rescue remote support tool has gained the ability to remotely configure iOS and Android mobile devices.

LogMeIn Rescue has been around for some time, providing helpdesk agents with the ability to troubleshoot mobile devices. The latest release allows the configuration of iOS and Android connectivity settings, including Wi-Fi and Access Point Name (APN).

It also allows remote configuration of iOS device permissions and pass code settings, and allows the creation of a customised 'SOS button' on iPads and iPhones to connect to self-help resources or web chat with a helpdesk agent.

"The new Rescue release was designed with direct input from some of the world's largest operators and mobile device OEMs and has been successfully tested by thousands of customer care organisations and IT helpdesks," said Lee Weiner, LogMeIn's VP of support products.

"While specific conditions vary across these audiences, all of them are looking to empower their teams to quickly support a growing number of people carrying increasingly sophisticated devices. The result is a release that simplifies support for iOS and Android devices, and makes it easier for helpdesk staff to better serve increasingly empowered customers and employees."

HTC, LG, Motorola and Samsung all sell Android mobiles with LogMeIn Rescue predeployed. LogMeIn Rescue is used by 50 mobile carriers, including Telstra.
