Optus prices the BlackBerry Torch 9860 and Bold 9900

RIM's new 9860 handset to go on sale in Aus through Optus (Credit: RIM)Optus has today released pricing for two of Research in Motion's newest smartphones, namely the BlackBerry Torch 9860 and the Bold 9900.

The 9860 features a 3.7'³ touch display, which is the biggest screen ever for a BlackBerry device, as well as a 1.2 GHz processor, 768 MB RAM, 5MP camera, full 720p HD video recording, a flash and over 4 and a half hours battery life talk time. There's also no physical keyboard on the device.

RIM's new slimline BlackBerry Bold 9900 meanwhile includes a width of just 10.5mm, support for Near Field Communications (NFC), built-in GPS, 2.8'³ touch display, 1.2 GHz Processor, 768 MB RAM and a full, physical QWERTY keyboard.

Optus revealed consumer pricing for the Torch 9860 will start from $0 on Optus' $49 cap over 24 months, while the Bold 9900 will be available for $0 on a $79 Optus Cap or Timeless plan over 24 months.

Business customers can expect to pay $0 on a $49 Business cap over 24 months for the Torch 9860, with the Bold 9900 available for $0 on the $79 Optus Business Complete or Timeless plans over 24 months.

Both phones will be available from September 1 through the carrier and are now available for pre-order. Optus has an exclusive period of 45 days before other Australian carriers can offer the two devices.
