Construction needs cloud flexibility

Australia’s embattled construction sector could benefit from cloud based information systems that can be switched on and off in lockstep with individual projects – with the exception of those organisations based in remote areas like the Kimberleys.

ASUS brings notebook LCD panel warranty in line with its display products

Your IT - Mobility

Starting today, ASUS offers a 'zero-bright-dot' warranty on its notebooks.

LCD panels contain lots of pixels, and even more subpixels. 1024x768 is considered low resolution for a notebook these days, but even that has over three-quarters of a million pixels.

If just one pixel is bad, the failure rate is a very small percentage - but  buyers are a lot more sensitive to dud pixels than manufacturers would like. Still, the number and position of bad pixels needed for a successful warranty claim have been moving in the consumer's direction.

Generally speaking, a dot that's permanently on is more noticeable and therefore more irritating than one that's always off. Presumably with that in mind, ASUS has announced that from today it has extended its 'zero-bright-dot' warranty from standalone LCD displays to the panels built into selected notebook models.

Any covered model showing one or more bright dots within 30 days of purchase will be eligible for repair or replacement of the panel under warranty.

"This guarantee reinforces ASUS' promise of pristine visuals by ensuring customers receive a product free of dead pixels," said Shawn Yen, product manager at ASUS Australia. "The zero-bright-dot guarantee is part of our commitment to provide our customers with superior products and service."

Models covered by the guarantee are in the following series: B43, B53, G53, G73, K43, K53, K73, K93, N3, N43, N45, N53, N55, N73, N75, NX90, P43, P53, U30, U31, U33, U36, U41, U43, U46, U53, U56, VX7, X44, and X54.
