Construction needs cloud flexibility

Australia’s embattled construction sector could benefit from cloud based information systems that can be switched on and off in lockstep with individual projects – with the exception of those organisations based in remote areas like the Kimberleys.

Australia's fastest super-smartphone coming to Telstra: July 26

Your IT - Mobility

There's no dry smartphone July for technology lovers, with Australia's 'fastest' smartphone launching on Telstra's Next G network on July 26: the Samsung Galaxy S II.

Although Samsung already launched its Galaxy S II smartphone in a blaze of glory in the same building that houses Apple Australia a few weeks ago, it was M.I.A. on Telstra's network and still-to-come.

While the wait is still on, we do at least have an actual launch date of July 26, when Samsung's super-slim and Apple-lawsuit attracting Galaxy S II makes its official debut on Telstra's "NNGN" - its National Next-G Network (not its official name, of course).

Not only does the S II pack a speedy 1.2GHz dual-core processor and Android OS 2.3, but its Next-G compatibility means much faster Internet speeds than competing telcos can offer right now.

Volleying forth some commentary is Telstra's Director of Mobile Products, Andrew Volard, who served up the statement that: 'The Telstra Next G network allows Samsung Galaxy S II customers to enjoy the mobile internet at its best. Customers can access faster download speeds, enjoy video with less buffering and connect through social networks with ease.

'Teamed with the Telstra Next G network, our customers will be able to enjoy mobile web speeds up to twice as fast as those available on non HSPA+ networks in all capital cities and selected areas. Couple this with Adobe Flash support and you have one of the fastest mobile web browsing experiences available.

'Samsung GALAXY S II customers will also be among the first to benefit from the clarity of HD voice calling which was recently launched on our network and is enabled on this smartphone.'

Striding onto the court next was Samsung Australia's VP of Telecommunications, Tyler McGee, who as always was McGee-ing up the masses with his statement that: 'We think Telstra customers are going to love this super-thin smartphone which features an extraordinarily vivid 4.3-inch screen, an ultra-slim design and a sharp 8-megapixel camera.'
